Player Overview: Possibly looking at a future world-class player

A flamboyant young midfielder that has left his mark at a very young age.

Can play in the middle of the park as a 50-50, or an attacking midfielder.

Originally from Sunderland, but moved to the Ney York when his father, Claudio Reyna, a former Premier League footballer as well, decided it is time to go back home.

He joined his hometown football club and at the age of 17, he joined Borussia Dortmund where he made 17 appearances in his first season playing for the club.

It is extremely rare for a player in such a young age to fit right into one of the top teams in the Bundesliga, and yet he took on the challenge and in the 2020-21 season, he made 45 appearances and added 7 goals.

Season of 2021-21 has started on the wrong foot, as in the early stages he sustained a hamstring injury that kept him out for most of the season.
He got a total of five appearances, scored 2 goals and 1 assist.

Strengths: touch, long pass, short pass, creative.

Weaknesses: prone to injuries, long shots, physic.

Imagine Busquets with more attacking abilities

The first thing that you notice when you look at Reyna is his enthusiasm when playing. Just give him the ball and he will take on the field.

One of the more obvious attributes is his ability to recognize the space around him, giving him that one extra moment to work the ball to push the rival players.

The young playmaker possesses a dribbling ability that helps to create spaces, leaving him in good positions to give key passes.

Add some amazing first touch to that and you can see why Real Madrid are already looking to sign the young talent at the first chance they’ll get.

With that being said, he has suffered a hamstring injury that has made players with great potential become nothing more than “just another player”.

This kind of injury usually happens to older players in their mid-20’s but he suffered from it at the age of 19, which sidelined him for a few months.

Let’s hope it doesn’t affect his progress.

What will it take from Reyna to become a world class player:

Well, not too much, but still, his physical attributes are not of the top tier.

With that being said, he is still only 19 years old and he has some way to go till he is physically fully grown.

It is still hard to say, but it seems like Reyna is not looking for the long shot too often. Perhaps is his manager’s tactics or style of play, but the lack of usage of this tool potentially hurts his development as a player.

For an attacking midfielder, a great shooting ability is usually what brings you to the big league (just look at De Bruyne, Kroos, Fernandes).
